When you start to shift your mindset from that of an employee and move it into a mindset of an entrepreneur and a leader, that’s when things really start to change in your business.

So in today’s blog, we’re going to be talking about the three things that you need to change with your mindset to really succeed in network marketing and for entrepreneurship in general because network marketing is a form of entrepreneurship. I have network marketing businesses, I have entrepreneurial businesses and they all require the same thing. It starts with your mindset. What I can tell you is that when you start to shift your mindset in these three simple ways, you are going to see tremendous results.

So number one, get out of the employee mindset and step into the leadership mindset. I talk to a lot of people all the time, every week, hundreds upon thousands of people over a year. I will speak to them about their network marketing business, for their entrepreneur business, and what they’re not happy with. A lot of it comes down to their mindset. It’s not that we’re doing anything specifically wrong. It’s just you have stepped into entrepreneurship without ever doing it before. If you were in a traditional business where you may be working for someone, you were an employee. The employee mentality is to go to a job interview, get paid a base salary, with maybe some incentives on the side of what they feel that your time and your skill set is worth, and you report to someone. You just do what you’re told. You’re basically waiting to be told to do something to get the approval that yes this is what I need to do for my job. Now look at the network marketing world, in the entrepreneur world where there is no boss. You’re not reporting to anyone but yourself and people feel like they’re lost. I see it all the time you’re waiting for someone or something to, you know, strike you in the head and say this is what you need to do.

I’m here to tell you guys that in entrepreneurship network marketing or any online business that you’re running, you have to be the one to make that change. You have to take the bull by the horns and do this. You can’t wait for someone to push you along. You need to be self motivated, you need to be a self starter, self driven, and self inspired. At the end of the day, when you sign up in network marketing, your upline isn’t always going to be there. What if Amy quits? Then what you’re going to say is that I’m an orphan, or I’m an only child in this I don’t have an upline? Well you know what? You are your own upline, you are your own downline, and you are your own cross line. And no one’s going to build this business for you except yourself. When you take ownership and get rid of the employee mindset and step into your own power and become a leader of your own business and entrepreneurial endeavor, that’s when things start to change.

Number two, set no goals per month. Now I’m not saying don’t set any goals, but what I mean by no goals is getting the word “No”, said to you, a certain amount of times per week or per month. There’s a great book that I read by Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton called Go for No. Don’t get the one for network marketing, get the traditional one.  It’s 75 pages, you can read it in a night, it will actually change your entire mindset of how you should be approaching network marketing. I hate to tell you guys, but if you want to keep convincing yourself that network marketing is not sales, you’re wrong. It is sales, you’re selling a product, you’re selling an opportunity. So the more time you are told no,  the more times you will hear yes. This is where people get lost in translation, everyone just wants to be told “Yes”. But the fact of the matter is you are going to be told no eight to nine times more than you will ever be told the word yes. When you can wrap your arms around that and understand that you’re going to have to go for no in order to get to yes, that’s when your business also starts to change. The person that collects the most people telling them no will also collect the most people saying yes. Just because you’re going to be willing to talk to the most amount of people. This comes down to something called the love conversation. The person who speaks to the most people is always going to win because you’re going to get the most answers.

Number three, create a happening board, not a vision board. Everyone creates these vision boards and these goal boards and they’re great. I’ve been doing it for the last six years. But this year, Nancy and I sat down and I said you know what let’s not do a vision board. Let’s not do a goal board. Let’s create a board of what is going to happen this year. So I took all the things that I wanted to happen. From the amount of income that I wanted to create and I put on this board, to how much money I wanted to create and the ways and what I need to do monthly to make that happen. I also came up with a little area of what I wanted to continue to do, things that I knew that I wanted to try to get to my personal goal. Also my social media goal, goals for the businesses that I’m starting with Nancy, my personal relationship goals with Nancy, all of those things. You can put on this happening board, because you can look at it, and you can be like you know what, this is what’s going to happen this year. I don’t think I know what’s going to happen, because you have to understand when things happen, those goals that were maybe visions become your reality. So don’t make things just visions or goals, make things happen.
